Since this is the begginning of the Jewish New Year, and it's the begining of a new shavua (7 year period), I've heard the Jews will only consider signing a new peace treaty during the 1st year. This sounds kind of odd to me, but is there any truth to it?

Hi, Forgiven Alaskan! I have not heard this myself, but if it is true that would be very interesting indeed in light of any fulfillment of a 7-year treaty to be confirmed by the antiChrist. If you hear any more about this, please post!

If that's true then we have to wait another 7 years?

What verse says it is specifically a peace treaty? Is that just an assumption?

          Peace?

On the land that God has given the Jews?
JER 14:13 Then said I: 'Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say unto them: Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.'
JER 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me: 'The prophets prophesy lies in My name; I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spoke I unto them; they prophesy unto you a lying vision, and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their own heart.

I'm not sure but just wait and see what happens...
