  • Sudan ends 30 years of Islamic law! Prayers for Turkey.

    An amazing answer to prayer!
    .

Praise God that Sudan’s transitional government has agreed to end 30 years of Islamic law, under which Christians and churches were severely persecuted.

This is a fantastic answer to the prayers of enormous numbers of people, including many Open Doors supporters.

The agreed separation of religion and state means Islam is no longer the state religion of Sudan. This is part of a peace deal that the government signed with rebel groups in late August, and follows news from July that Sudan had repealed several laws, including the death penalty for people who leave Islam.

Read more about this wonderful answer to prayer.
    PLEASE PRAY:
    • Praise God for answering decades of prayers on this issue
    • That God will thwart any attempts to resurrect Islamic law, and that loyalist groups would encounter Jesus
    • Christians from a Muslim background remain at risk of intense opposition from families. Pray for their safety.
RELIGIOUS NATIONALISM ON THE RISE IN TURKEY

There are only around 173,000 Christians in Turkey – a tiny 2% of the country’s population. It is widely believed that a true Turk must be a Sunni Muslim, which puts great pressure on Christians, who are mostly expatriates, including refugees from neighbouring Syria and Iraq.

Religious nationalism has grown to new heights since the failed coup of 2016. President Erdogan has used the situation to enlarge his power and position, beginning to transform Turkey from a secular state into a Sunni one, leaving little space for minorities.

Those from ethnic minorities, such as Armenian and Syriac Christians, experience discrimination in the workplace, especially where employers have ties to the government. Religious affiliation is recorded on ID cards, making it easy to discriminate against Christian applicants.

What's life like for Christians in Turkey?

    A prayer for Turkey

Father God, build up Your church in Turkey. May Your children not lose heart over the pressure and discrimination they face. Fill them with fresh confidence, conviction and courage, and open their eyes to glimpse what You are doing in their lives and nation. Soften the government’s attitude towards Christians, and frustrate and end all plans to turn Turkey into a Sunni state. Amen.

With many thanks for your prayers.

Per Hebrew 13:3 please "Remember those in prison": http://bibleforums.org/forumdisplay....secuted-Church

Acts 21 Now they have been informed about you that you continually teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn back from and forsake Moses...Therefore do just what we tell you....thus everybody will know that there is no truth in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself walk in observance of the Law of Moses.

Working...
