    Porn addiction

There are two elements, the physiological (chemical) drive and the mental construct that acts to draw one in.

The physiological drive can be reduced by taking licorice root.

The mental construct can be slowly altered to reduce its attractiveness by bringing it mentally into the cold light of truth.

The creative life force spurs us to create something, whether through pro-creation or creative expression. Sexuality and spirituality are different expressions of the same energy which is why you may be seeking answers here. Monks and nuns take vows of chastity in order to align all of their creative life force or energy to God for purposes of furthering humanity's spiritual development so clearly we are able to comfortably live without a sexual aspect but the energy must be utilized elsewhere.

We can express it by regularly engaging in any creative activity like freestyle dancing for example, during which we sub-consciously trace the shape of sacred spiral (the DNA that connects all life). Dance in all it's variations is based on this as seen in ballet, or in martial arts, or two people intertwined in love making. They're all spiritual activities and tracing this shape evokes altered states of consciousness which is why children are so fond of spinning round and round. It can be channelled into any of the arts evident in the masterpieces humans are capable of producing but it need not be a masterpiece of course.

Pornography addiction is something that I struggle with and that many people I've known have been afflicted by (though they did not seek to overcome it as from their standpoint as unbelievers there was nothing wrong with the act). I was just wondering if anyone who has overcome the problem could offer advice. For now I will just say that I turn to pornography in times of boredom, upset or when feeling promiscuous. If it becomes necessary to describe my problem in more specific detail then I will do so in the interest of helping you to provide the best advice. Please help me turn away from this vile habit which is providing Satan with a foothold to enter into my life.

        Thank you.
You deal with porn just like you deal with any other addiction, you quit doing it. You can not dabble in it. You can not have just a little of it every now and again, you just quit doing it.

This post is just so strange... and it has nothing to do with the OP.

Aviyah, you are so right. But its gone now... Just too strange to stay on here. It involves strange Eastern beliefs and not Christian in any way. That is why it seemed 'strange' to you. And to us.
            My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

              Re: Porn Addiction

I can say that I myself beat the addiction to it. Lot of tearful prayers, lots of bible reading and following the advice on Matthew 5:30 of cutting your hand if it makes you stumble. In my case I got rid of my smartphone, my computer and all things that I could access internet with for a year. Maybe you don't have to go thru that and instead can get rid of some ways of watching porn. Another convenient thing is to block all porn on your phone and forget the password to take it off.

I know how you feel. Just keep fighting and do whatever it takes. Eventually you will gain a degree of mastery over it that allows you to not have those moments in which "you have" to watch it.

                        Re: Porn Addiction

Demons inside of a person can influence the temptation/sin dynamic. They should be cast out of a person. As a high level servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, I cast out demons.

As for scripture, I recommend praying the Lord's prayer.
These are the parts of the Lord's prayer that I find most helpful against demons that would affect a person with sexual immorality.
Forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors.
I pray we not fall to temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

The testosterone factor is real - all the more reason to never get started down a path of sexual immorality.

Knowing that God Who created the eyes and ears also sees and hears, changed my perspective about sin. I used to say frequently, God is watching meI am celibate, abstinent of any sexual behavior for over 6 years. I thank God I am celibate.
