  • Information Advertise your Social Group

The latest upgrade to the Bibleforums Christian Message Board has enabled members to participate in and/or start Social Groups.

The rules for the Social Groups and participating in these groups is located here:

On 6 June 08, I will begin to enforce the rule concerning the minimum membership within 30 days from a group's start date. Summed up: less than 8 members in 30 days, the group will be deleted.

So... in this thread, ONLY the leader that created a social group has the opportunity to Advertise for their group. You only get one post so make it count. Any posts in this thread from members other then the group's leader (the one who started the group) will be deleted as well as more then one post from a leader.

This is not a competition for the best/brightest/loudest/ advertisement. Standard board rules apply for this thread.

If there are any specific questions concerning this thread, please post your question in the General Questions Forum, ATTN: Slug1 - Social Group Question.

    Thank You!

Edit #1: If you have multiple groups you can post an individual advertisement for each or lump it all in one post.

      Looking for Christ-oriented young adults!!

Hello, I have started a group called College Students for Christ! This group is focused on the challenges of staying Christ-oriented in the mostly secular world of college life. Here we can discuss learning to make friends, dealing with term paper and other attacks on the Christian faith (like most science courses) and general issues that are problems for college students. This group is to encourage one another and to strengthen our walk and faith in Jesus Christ!!

Photos: Just make sure you follow the rules of the regular groups like not posting information that puts yourself at risk. You can post your school mascot, etc. I would prefer you be eighteen or over to join, as it is a college oriented group, but I understand there are those rare geniuses among us
We serve God by serving others. The world defines greatness in terms of power, possessions, prestige, and position. If you can demand service from others, you've arrived. In our self-serving culture with its me-first mentality, acting like a servant is not a popular concept.” Rick Warren

The minstrel boy to the war is gone,
        In the ranks of death ye will find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
        And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" said the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betray thee,
One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!

              I have the Scrupulosity Group:

This group is for people who suffer from Scrupulosity, a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder centered around faith and/or moral issues. It is often characterized by upsetting, unwelcome intrusive blasphemous thoughts and images, unwanted urges to do or say something blasphemous or profane, obsessive thinking/worrying about moral issues, fear of doing or saying something blasphemous inadvertently, praying frequently for every unacceptable behavior that you can't stop no matter how hard you try (which only worsens the problem), and the laundry list can go on and on forever. Famous Christians believed to have suffered from this affliction include Martin Luther (founder of Protestantism), John Bunyan (famous Puritan preacher/author), Charles Spurgeon (famous Baptist preacher), and George Whitefield (co-founder of Methodism). I also, unfortunately suffer from this horrible affliction, and suffer from all of the above mentioned characteristics, common fears of mine are committing the unpardonable sin (which is proof that you haven't, but my uneasy conscience is never satisfied), accidentally selling my soul to the devil, and inadvertently writing something blasphemous or drawing occultic symbols in the air when I move my fingers around, and obsessing about the devil mooning me during bible study. I've also had semi-violent reactions to some of the intrusive images that went through my mind, one morning I chucked a plate full of orange peels at a disgusting image of Christ in BDSM gear, and a few days later, flung a cardboard box across the room at my job at an image of the devil mocking me. If this sounds like you, then this group is for you, God loves you and you don't have to keep living your life in morbid fear, you do not have to be a prisoner to your own mind. This group is for presenting our own personal stories and coping strategies in dealing with this horrible affliction and how we can find assurance and healing through God's word, I'm 100% certain that the God of infinite love that sent his only begotten Son to die a horrible death to atone for our sins doesn't want any of his children to suffer the torment of feeling unforgivable because of unwanted sacrilegious behavior that they have little to no control over.

                I have two.

The Revival Discussion Group: This is the only place where the Florida movement can be discussed and it is also a place where folks can discuss other such movements and hopefully when that passes... folks can talk about real revival.

NOSAS/OSAS Discussion Club: Just what it says... we lay it all out. We are attempting to discuss it one at a time... We discussed Romans 8 first and then we moved to first John. We are still in that... the first two chapters. It works although we do jump on rabbit trails along the way.

Both of these are faster moving groups. So if you like a lot of discussion then both of these would be to your liking.

                Visit our new website
! The Blog might interest some.. and Lord help me!!!... for those that twitter... there as well.

                  I have two groups.

Grandparents: Sharing how we, as grandparents, are involved in training up our grandchildren in the way they should go.

Proverbs 31 Woman: Discussion on being godly women.

                    My group:
Christian and Texan: A haven for all of us fortunate enough to be able to call ourselves Texans. Please note that you don't have to currently be living in the Lone Star State to join. Former residents who are homesick for the greatness of Texas living are also welcome to join.
We long to be known and we fear it like nothing else.
Most people live with subtle dread that one day,
they will be discovered for who they really are,
and the world will be appalled.

Do you find yourself wandering dark caves looking for your Precious with excess phelm in the back of your throat?
Are one or both of your ears ever strained to hear a Lion's roar?
Are your especially hairy feet trained to be rather cautious of stepping on a Reepicheep or stumbling over hobbitses?
Got Turkish Delight, Lembas, and something in a pint?

Well then, join us in our praise of the Britly Christian literary masters and their inky progeny, as an honourary Inkling, an informal literary (and filmeary) discussion group of the other literary discussion group called Inklings which included folk like J. R. R. “Tollers” Tolkien, C. S. “Jack” Lewis, Owen Barfield, Charles Williams, Christopher Tolkien (J.R.R.’s son), Warren “Warnie” Lewis (C.S.’s older brother), and a bevy of other chaps (and perhaps even a woman, Dorothy L. Sayers, who, though indeed technically excluded as a woman, was a fine literary friend of Lewis and Williams and wrote some really neat stuff). Why, if it makes you happy, we’ll even throw in G. K. Chesterton and George MacDonald at no extra charge.

                            Witnessing to Witches

These days most people know somebody involved in the occult, or at some point has to counter it's claims. If you need support or advice on how to witness to witches, this is the group for you. There's at least one ex witch on it, so the good news is, anyone can be saved!

Please could everyone pray for Mieke and Charles.

                              The Vigil

For those of us who flew too close to the web of pornography, adultery, and sexual addictions and got stuck. Come encourage, be encouraged, and be accountable to your fellows.

If there's one thing I've learned in my decade long battle with this wickedness, is that you don't change without hitting rock bottom OR getting some serious help. If you're an indulger, even infrequently, come share your burden with us.
