  • Need Advice: An American term ??

Hi Girls, I have a recipe that calls for "Hamburger" What is it??
I only know "Hamburger" as a round-roll with a meat patty and lettuce and onion and perhaps cheese and egg on it

So when a recipe calls for : "Hamburger" will that be minced meat
    The LORD is my Miracle

G_d was gracious He has shown favor

Yep. Ground beef. It can be ground chuck roast, ground round or ground sirloin - any of the ground versions of beef will work.

Exactly what Vh said and you can chop it yourself if you have a grinder or a good manual chopping method

All Hamburger can be formed into a ball in its consistancy.
Originally put through a meat grinder..I can remember my grandmother doing this. Some hamburger has a lot of fat (30 percent) down to around 10 percent.
I live in such a bubble..feel sortof ashamed I didn't know ground beef is not as common as it is here in other countries.

I hope I was'nt being redundant or something else. What is the recipe?
        Peace to you!

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.

Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.

I am familiar with ground beef, we just call it 'mincedmeat' or 'mince' for short....
                  ...and yes I form hamburger-patties
                  or meatballs (frikkadel).....with minced meat
It is a LASAGNEQUINOA recipe that asks for
1 lb hamburger or veggie burger

We normally only have minced (ground) beef, yet sometimes they mix it with minced pork.... which is also used for "Boerewors"... beef sausage

Minced (ground) chicken is also becoming more popular

Ground turkey has been popular here for several years. Many people substitute it for ground beef or ground pork in recipes such as chili or even meat loaf.

I bought turkey and smoked turkey drumsticks during the week, much cheaper than beef I just don't know if it is hormone free
