Effort to fly Israelis stranded in Europe to Israel renews Noam Bedein's
                belief in our state
Noam Bedein YNET Published: 04.25.10, 09:37 / Israel Opinion
                http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7...880118,00.html

April 19, 2010: It was Monday, the eve of Israel's Independence Day and the
fifth day in the world's largest aviation crisis that has paralyzed Europe,
following a volcanic explosion in Iceland which left the sky of 23 countries
                clouded in volcanic dust.

I was left stranded in Holland, but after hearing that El Al had promised to
send more Israeli jets to Europe to collect stranded Israelis, I found
myself traveling to Rome, halfway across the European continent by train.

After 27 hours of a nerve-racking trip, I remained doggedly determined to
join the rest of the people of Israel in celebration of Israel Independence
Day. I finally arrived at Terminal 5 in Rome at 23:30.

Much to my amazement, I found a nearly empty terminal, deserted of
passengers, aircrafts, and airline employees. Only one ticket counter had a
long line of people and that was of course El Al. Exhausted Israelis from
all corners of Europe had arrived to board the jumbo plane decked with
Israeli flags. El Al specifically sent the plane to gather Israeli travelers
and bring them back home to celebrate Independence Day with their families.
It was a sort of in gathering of the exiles sponsored and facilitated by El
                Al.

El Al, Israel's largest airline, privatized in 2003, serves as the national
airline of Israel. It was one of the first if not the only airline that was
able to adjust to a state of emergency in less than 24 hours when airports
across Europe were forced to shut down.

It is amazing how every time there is a national disaster or international
crisis, Israel, somehow, is always among the first countries to act and lend
a hand. As such a tiny country, which since its establishment has existed
under constant terror and threat, Israel is constantly in a state of
                preparedness as well.

                Zionism still here and kicking

On my way to Rome during the weekend on the train, I heard from many other
Israelis that countless airlines on which they had flown did not open
emergency centers in order to instruct passengers how to act during this
                emergency situation.

Israeli media did not stop broadcasting the news that El Al was operating to
return stranded Israelis back to Israel and consequently the airline
established an emergency information center to receive calls and share
information on flight location points where Israelis could verify where to
catch a flight back to Israel.

El Al sent 15 additional jets to transport 20,000 Israelis stuck across
Europe in places including Munich, Madrid, Barcelona and Rome. El Al also
ensured that the same ticket could be used regardless of the country from
which travelers were scheduled to fly from in Europe, even if the flight
from that particular country had been cancelled to Israel.

In addition, the El-Al crews did an amazing job, working over 20 hours
non-stop to provide the best quality of services in this time of emergency.

The flight from Rome to Tel Aviv on April 20, 2010, was the best way to
begin celebrating 62 years to the state of Israel. During the soft landing
in Ben Gurion Airport at 7 am, I felt that there was something Biblical in
the operation, something like "the wings of eagles."

As I traveled, I had much time to reflect on the country's current state and
where we are today, after 2,000 years of dreaming of returning to our
                homeland.

I can honestly say that my experience this past Israel Independence Day
renewed my belief in our state. I am back home in Sderot, the world
"capital" of bomb shelters, with hope in my heart, that Zionism is still
here and kicking, and that the Jewish state will continue to stand up for
her citizens both around the world and at home.

Thanks to El Al, 20,000 Israelis made it back home in what was truly a
reflection of the spirit that helped make Israel independent 62 years ago.

                      Re: God se oogappel

In Deutr.

U.S. GOVERNMENT REPORT: ISRAEL HAS 122 TRILLION CUBIC FEET OF NATURAL GAS OFFSHORE

en die nuusberig wat net gister verskyn het ...

1.5 BILLION BARRELS OF OIL DISCOVERED IN ISRAEL
1.5 billion barrels of oil discovered near Rosh Ha'Ayin

                          The Apple Of God’s Eye
                          By Grant Phillips

“For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.” (Zechariah 2:8)

“And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3)

“For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.” (Deuteronomy 14:2)

Our country, the United States of America, has always been a supporter of the nation of Israel, until this current administration. Never, in its short modern history has Israel and its leaders been treated with such disrespect; such outright contempt, by a “friend.” If we were descendants of Ishmael it could be expected, but we are not.

Our forefathers set the foundation of this country upon the Word of God, and for generations we, as a whole, have respected that Word and loved His chosen nation Israel. But guess what, we don’t want God in our lives anymore. We care not for His Word, and our hearts have turned to stone toward Him and the “apple of His eye.” Thanks to our new found Godlessness, we have cast our bread upon the waters and our profits are going down the tube. We have become fools.

“The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.” (Psalms 14:1)

Israel is precious to Almighty God, the apple [pupil] of His eye. He is simply saying, “You touch my chosen nation Israel. You poke me in the eye.”

God called Israel a “peculiar people,” and he did not mean oddball. He is saying that Israel is specially chosen by Him. They are the nation He called out from among all the other nations, and he holds them in the strength of His own hands.

Try harming lion cubs and see what mama lioness does. When it rains in the barnyard, mama hen covers her chicks with her wings to keep them dry. Take a walk back through history and see what happened to those nations who struck out against Israel.

Even when God allowed other nations to strike Israel, He did so to bring her back to Him, and He also dealt with those nations severely. Even in modern times, consider what happened to Germany. Take a stroll through the book of Revelation and comprehend what God is going to do to all nations of this earth who afflict the apple of his eye. It isn’t a pretty sight.

I’m sure most of us saw the fiasco at the Democratic National Convention. Obama and company wanted no part of God on the program. That also included not recognizing Jerusalem as the legitimate capital of Israel. But alas! Obama would lose some votes! “Put them back! Put them back!” Well, they voted God back in (as if He would want any part of it anyway) and also included recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, but did you listen carefully to the voice vote? My wife and I listed very carefully. As a matter of fact, we kept rewinding, and playing it back, over and over. It was very clear, no doubt in our minds, the majority did not, I repeat did “not” want to restore these two “slight” omissions. Anyway, for the sake of Obama’s votes, the majority was overruled, and these two “omissions” were restored to the platform. Sigh! “Whew! That was close!” What a bunch of phony jackals!

If that weren’t enough, Obama has decided he doesn’t have time to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu this month, the Israeli Prime Minister. He has more important things to do. Yeah, I can think of two of them; campaigning and another round of golf (which is well over 100 trips since he has been President).

Folks, we need to seriously consider voting for someone who strongly supports the nation Israel and only one of the three candidates fits this description.

Recall that the majority of the Democratic delegates did not want to restore God and Jerusalem/Israel to the platform. I pray that is not the case with those who say they are Christians.

I may not always agree with some things that Israel does, such as their continual rejection of their own God, but God can deal with that, and He is doing so. I love Israel as a nation and the people who compose that nation, and I’m sure you do too. These dear people have given us the greatest gift of all; i.e. the knowledge of the one true God, and I am ever so grateful for that.
