Christ's 2nd coming - the literal power of the sun upon the earth

You see when Christ returns it will be literally the sun's power coming upon the earth.

Rev 1:16
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

Rev 10:11
And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

Rev 22:23
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Why do you think that just prior to Christ returns the sun is darkened? The power thereof is now contained within Christ himself. But question, was God/Christ the power of the sun this whole time?


Amos 9:5
And the Lord God of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

2 Pt 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Many verses describing the earth melting at the presence of Christ.

As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!
The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein.

So then you need to ask youself some questions....

How could anything upon the earth or anyone survive?
Christ himself does return to earth, scriptures say the earth melts at his presence. Thus the new earth must follow imediately.
Then how can there be a 1000 year period with an old earth or anyone from the old earth.

One angel slaughtered 185,000 of Sennacherib's army in one night, yet the gates of Jerusalem were but mere feet from the scene. God apparently knows how to direct His energy.

When Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed by whatever it was that wiped them out, Lot and his family was within a kilometer or two of the blast zone--only one died (his wife) because she turned back and stared at the scene. Again, God knows how to direct His energy.

As to that day you refer of, it is at a point where all of God's people are in their new bodies (Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is) and we shall be as Jesus Christ Himself - the fire isn't going to faze us one bit. As to the rest, they won't feel a thing because they are not the targets of the Lord's wrath.

This is assuming these things are taken in a literal sense. What about Revelation 19 then? The text says the remnant are killed by the one sitting upon the horse, and not by any of these things you listed above. Why does Jesus need to slay anyone in Revelation 19 if the earth is literally ablaze or something at the time? Where is it depicted in Rev 19 than anyone is literally being burned to death at the time?

In Romans 1:19-20 we learn that the things of the creature SHOW the things of God. So the SUN is a TYPE of Christ. But as Creator of the Sun, He is MUCH greater than the sun. He does not need the sun to wreak havoc on earth.

The earth as we know it is not melted. Numerous scriptures say that the earth is made to last forever. It is not the earth that is melted but the "WORKS" that are purged. Psalm 102:26 says; "They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed" A "Garment" in Parable is one's WORKS (e.g. Rev.19:8). The "Garment" of evil WORKS by men and angels will be purged, and the earth will this be "CHANGED". So also in Hebrews 1:11: "They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment."

Before Noah the earth was full of evil. After the flood it was the same earth but its "Garment" of evil was gone. So 2nd Peter 3:5-6 says,
5 "For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:"

The word for "world" is "kosmos" in the Greek. And "Kosmos" means "the orderly arrangement of things", or "the adornment". The dusty earth did not disappear. The ORDER of things on earth was wiped out. So also the coming purging of the Lord at the end of the Millennium in Revelation 20. It will wipe from history, whatever happened on earth, EXCEPT the works of Christ. That is why He is still called the Lamb on the New Earth.
