Why is this year 5779 on a Jewish timeline? READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

On a Jewish calendar, this is year 5779. If we subtract our Gregorian year of 2019, we arrive at 3760 BCE, (Before Common Era) as being year #1, the year of creation. The following information that is about a half snippet from the following website:

    https://www.chabad.org/library/artic...istory.htm#q20

Very little controversy exists concerning the chronology of events taking place the last two millennium. For the sake of not being overly excessive, I am only showing results up to the destruction of the 2nd temple (Beit Hamikdash). Hopefully my pre-editing will result in a readable format. The author of the full article is Mattis Kantor, and more info on him is provided at the bottom of the website. 1st number is
    (xxxx,-BCE/CE)
followed by Jewish year, from creation, (xxxx).
followed by event description. I will begin posting some items of interest in succeeding posts. There odds a ton of information here.

    2448 Exodus from Egypt
    EQUALS ONLY 400 YEARS.

We also know the dates of Nebuchadnezzar and it wasn't 425 but 586 so at least 160 years out there.

586 BC is an interpolated number that has origins in two principal documents. Chronicles of the Persian kings and Josephus, documents written much later. One of those interpolated events is when Ezra journeyed to Jerusalem. As shown, Ezra came in Year 3513, the year after the temple was rebuilt. I.e., Ezra 7 follows immediately after Ezra 6, and not some 60+ years later. Just for clarity, Nehemiah rebuilt the wall in 3526, thirteen years later. This equates to the difference between the 20th year of Artaxerxes found in Nehemiah 2:1 a.c. the 7th year of Artaxerxes found in Ezra 7:7. This creates huge problems for Christian theologians and their timing for the beginning of the 70 weeks.

As for when Ezra came, he didn't come 13 years before Nehemiah.
That is an error many make simply because there is an Ezra mentioned in Nehemiah.

There are other documents which help show that there are a number of years missing.

Your contention goes against all of Judaism. Go ahead and provide your documentation. But I would adder that the missing years are are extrapolated from a 586 BC date for the temple destruction, which is an extrapolation from Sir Robert Anderson's claim to fame.

Correct, 586 BCE is the known and proved date for the conquest of Jerusalem by Babylonian forces.
This date fits perfectly with the timeline that I prepared with the help of a Christian Jew:

Genesis 1:27 Adam was created in 3970.5 BCE subtracted back from 586 BCE, from:
    Gen 5:3 Seth +130, Gen 5:6 Enoch +105, Gen 5:9 Kenan +90, Gen 5:12 Mahalalel +70, Gen 5:15 Jared +65, Gen 5:18 Enoch +162, Gen 5:21 Methuselah +65, Gen 5:25 Lamech +187, Gen 5:28 Noah+182, Gen 6:7 The Flood came when Noah was +600, Gen 11:10 Our year 2314.5 BCE
Arpachshad +2 - born to Shem after the flood. Gen 11:12 Selah +35, Gen 11:14 Heber +30, Gen 11:16 Peleg +34, Gen 11:18 Reu +30, Gen 11:20 Serug +32, Gen 11:22 Nahor +30 , Gen 11:24 Terah +29, Gen 11:26 Abram +70, Abram was +52 when God called him and they left Ur. Our year 1970.5 BCE He lived in Haran for 23 years, then went to Canaan at age 75. Genesis 12:4
Total years so far = 2000

Gen 17:1, Abraham was 99 when the Covenant was made with God. +47 Genesis 17:1-8
Galatians 3:17 Paul states that the Law was given +430 after the Covenant. Total years elapsed until the Exodus – 2477, in our year 1493.5 BCE.
[Many ancient records say Comet Typhon passed close the earth at that time. It was the cause of many of the disasters in Egypt.]

    1 Kings 6:1 The Temple construction starts, in the 4th year of King Solomon +480 since the Torah was given at the Exodus.. 1 Kings 11:42 Solomon 40 minus 4 = +36, 1 Kings 14:21 Rehoboam +17, 1 Kings 15:2 Abijah +3, 2 Chron 16:13 Asa +41, 1 Kings 22:42 Jehoshaphat +25, 2 Kings 8:17 Jehoram +8, 2 Kings 8:26 Ahaziah +1, 2 Kings 11:1-3 Athaliah +6, 2 Kings 12:1 Joash +40, 2 Kings 14:2 Amaziah +29, 2 Kings 15:1-2 Azariah +52, 2 Kings 15:33 Jotham +16, 2 Kings 16:2 Ahaz +16, 2 Kings 18:1-2 Hezekiah +29, 2 Kings 21:1 Manasseh +55, 2 Kings 21:19 Amon +2, 2 Kings 22:1 Josiah +31, 2 Kings 23:31 Jehoahaz +3mths, 2 Kings 23:36 Jehoiakim +11, 2 Kings 24:8 Jehoichin +3mths, 2 Kings 24:18-20 Zedekiah +11, who ruled until the Babylonian captivity in our year of 586 BCE.
Total elapsed years to the first exile of Judah = 3386.5

586 BCE + 613.5 years + 2 comes to 29.5 CE, the date of Jesus’ baptism. Luke 3:1 Plus 2 to include the total number of elapsed years, as our calendar system counts years from their commencement.
    3386.5 + 613.5 = 4000 years from Adam to Jesus.

January 2019 CE - 29.5 CE = 1989.5 years since the commencement of Jesus’ Ministry.
    1989.5 + 4000 = 5989.5 years, is where we are now. 5989.5 + 10.5 = 6000 years
2019 CE + 10.5 = 2029.5 CE Exactly 2000 years to the end of the present Church age.
4000 since Abraham, 6000 since Adam. Next comes the 1000 year reign of Jesus.

7000 years is God’s decreed time for mankind.
Those who have been found worthy will go into Eternity with God. Revelation 22:1-5

No, my contention goes against the Judaic tradition which this list of years supports.
My contention is based on scripture and is provable from reading Ezra and Nehemiah.
My contention does not support Sir Robert Anderson who actually has Nehemiah 13 years after Ezra.

We can see some inaccuracies, such as Saul only reigning 2 years, which in Acts 13:21 states he was king for 40 years (there are missing numbers in 1 Sam 13:1 in the Hebrew), or the error with when the Maccabean revolt occurred which we can cross reference with other documents, such as Roman and Greek ones, and not simply the two you mentioned. All dates are interpolated from multiple sources.

586 BCE + 613.5 years + 2 comes to 29.5 CE, the date of Jesusí baptism. Luke 3:1 Plus 2 to include the total number of elapsed years, as our calendar system counts years from their commencement.
    3386.5 + 613.5 = 4000 years from Adam to Jesus.

January 2019 CE - 29.5 CE = 1989.5 years since the commencement of Jesusí Ministry.

7000 years is Godís decreed time for mankind.
Those who have been found worthy will go into Eternity with God. Revelation 22:1-5
As pretty as your numerical analysis is, your choice of 586 BC and 3970 BC, are only arbitrary numbers chosen to make your numbers work. I am not against a 7000 year calendar, just yours. I will point out two principal errors that you make.
I donít know where you get your age for Abram when he left Haran (52, maybe from the book of Jasher???), but other than that, your reckoning of the number of years (but not 3970 BC) that elapsed from the creation to the Exodus, are good. But there is where you start to veer off.
Using your numbers for the Exodus (1493 BC) and the destruction of the temple(586 BC), let me show you how your numbers ďdonít add upĒ. The problem arises in the 480 years of 1Kings 6:1. It is not in error, just mistakenly interpreted. Paul gives us some important information in Acts 13. I trust God the Holy Spirit, thru Paul, knows what he is doing. There He tells us that Saul reigned over Israel for 40 years (something not found in our bibles, and even the Jews believe that he only reigned for 2 years) AND that when Joshua died, Israel was ruled by judges for a period of about 450 years. From our bibles we know that David did not begin his (also) 40 year reign, UNTIL the death of Saul.

2Sa 5:3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.
2Sa 5:4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.

We also know that Samuel was the last judge of Israel. Here is where the problem begins. We also know from scripture that Samuel died BEFORE David became king, I.e. 40+ years before he became king. Letís use 45 years (for ease) just because 1KINGS 6 says that it was the 4th year of Solomonís reign. Scriptures also tell us that Joshua was 40
years old when the spies were sent to spy out Canaan, and 110 when he died:

Jos 14:7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.

Jos 24:29 And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

So, the period of the judges did not begin for at least 70 years after the exodus. So if we are to let the scriptures be true, and every man a liar, we must subtract the last 70 years of Joshuaís life AND the 45 years after the death of Samuel before Solomon begins building the temple, in 1Kings 6:1. This would only leave us with 365 years (480 minus 70 minus 45). But Paul tells us that the period of the Judges lasted about 450 years. So what gives? Many try to rectify the situation by saying that we must add years of servitude to the 365 years. This would also have to mean that Solomon must not have been counting them either, which would also mean that you also are not counting them as being a part of the historical record. Do you see where you are at? (Your 4000 years from creation to the crucifixion is actually more than that!) We are not even looking at your 613 years from the temples destruction until the crucifixion. You can adjust your 3970 BC date backwards, but you still end up with more than 4000 years. Your theory is just thatÖonly a theory that doesnít work. I havenít even looked at your 430 years of the kings from 1Kings 6 forward. That too is in error. Iíll not go into the details but the years of the kingdom from Saul to the Fall (the templeís destruction) are 490 years. This is in accord with the 70 Sabbath years that the children of Israel failed to keep the 7th year land sabbatical, as prophesied by Jeremiah. If you were to add in the 40 years each for Saul and David as kings, plus it being the 4th year of Solomonís reign, your 430 years becomes 513, as opposed to there being 490. As I said before, your numbers, 3970 BC and 586 BC are just arbitrary numbers chosen to fit your system.

Yes, I agree that Anderson places both events 13 years apart, [this agreeing that the 7th and 20th years of Artaxerxes refer to the same king ArtaX], but he places them 60 plus years after the completion of the temple. This is the origin of the discrepancy between Jewish and Christian theologians.

So what Keraz posts you are against? Is it too close to the bone for you? Meaning are you worried that you may have to face the end time events/

I use 47 scriptures and simple addition, fixed by the well proven date of the Babylonian conquest. You question the two time periods that aren't actually Biblically stated. Abrahams age when he left Haran, which is obtained by simple math and the years between the Babylonian conquest and the Advent of Jesus. Again simple math gives the correct period that fits exactly with 4000 years since Adam.

Your convoluted denials are rejected, as being made just to avoid the possibility of you personally having to experience the end times events.

You best read it again. I didn't disagree with your age of Abram when he left Haran,

"I don’t know where you get your age for Abram when he left Haran (52, maybe from the book of Jasher???), but other than that, YOUR RECKONING OF THE number of YEARS (but not 3970 BC) that elapsed from the creation to the Exodus, ARE GOOD.*"

I stated that your counting is good. I only asked for how did you arrive at age 52. Your 2477 years until the exodus matches my view exactly [in which the Jewish account only catches 400 of the 430 from the promise to the exodus].

Your contempt for reproof is evidenced by:
    1. Your failure to ask for an explanation of the 480 years of 1 KINGS 6:1, and
    2. Your condemnation/cursing of me personally:

"Your convoluted denials are rejected, as being made just to avoid the possibility of you personally having to experience the end time events."

Cursing the blessed, will only bring curses upon your own self.

Anderson isn't the origin of the discrepancy.
You are following Maimonides, who was an influential Jew of the 12th century who came up with these dates. Prior to this the Jews didn't count from Anno Mundi (AM).
This was his attempt (based on Jewish scripture) to show the age of the world (and counter in part Anno Domini).
He didn't do too bad a job, but when it is tested we can find issues, such as Saul's reign only being 2 years. Even without the NT reference in Acts (which I thought you have noted as being valid) we can read about the things achieved in his reign and see it was longer than 2 years.

A separate discrepancy is about Artaxerxes, as Josephus gives some information, which it would be surprising that Maimonides didn't have access to. This speaks into the whole Nehemiah times.
However as I stated we know from Roman and Greek sources the dates for the Maccabean revolt is wrong by 25 years at least.

He has the Artaxerxes Esther marries 5 years after Daniel, which was still the reign of Cyrus.
We know from Ezra that there were other kings in between.

So there are lots of things we can see need some work with these dates.
