    666 - Identity Theft

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

What is the name of the beast? Who is this man?

Let's review his characteristics. He is likened unto a lamb with two horns whom does great wonders and power over the life of men and provides a "mark" for all his followers. Umm, if we did not know these words were from Rev 13 we would say this man is Christ! We know that this man is trying to imitate Christ.

So then if he is trying to imitate Christ we he not use his name? Identity theft at the highest level.

Does 666 relate to Christ? No way possible everything we have seen in the movies and read is that 666 is an evil number, is it really? What does scripture have to say?

666 and the measurements of the temple (image)

    Dan 3
3 Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.
5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
6 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

So what we see here in Daniel is the same events in Rev 13. An image of gold set up and the world is to worship. Those who do not are killed. The image of the beast in Rev 13 is also to be worshipped and those who do not are killed likewise. The most interesting is that the image Nebuchadnezzar sets up has height of 60 and width of 6 which just so happens to be the last two numbers of 666.

Did you know the measurements of the door to the temple are 60X6 cubits.

Now what or whom does the door in the temple represent? Christ himself. Not only is he the door he represents the entire temple. As such the prophets established this fact building such to be in the presence of God.

    John 10:9
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

How about the 600? What does that represent?

The narrow pathway to the holy of holies is 6X100 cubits in length. Christ is the door and the way to life!

    John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    Matt 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The image of the beast is the temple

As I have pointed out the image which is built unto the beast is a temple. In times past as in this occasion a temple is built wherein they can be with whom they think is God and worship. 666 are the measurements of the temple. The temple has always been an image of God. We even have fire called down to earth which comes into the temple wherein it speaks as in times past.

What we see here in Revelation 13 and the 666 is the ultimate identity theft of a name.

Nero justs seem so much simpler and obvious, not only for us now, but for those people living back then.
Do not say, “Why were the old days better than these?” For it is not wise to ask such questions.
    Ecc 7:10

John777 exists to me only in quoted form.

This is talking about the false prophet, the second beast in Revelation 13. 666 is the number of the first beast. From the description, the second beast could be a Christ-like figure; he will command that all take the number 666 which belongs to the first beast. In my opinion 666 is Satan's number.

Nope, Nero was not obvious, then or now.
The problem with such a claim is that Nero could be an obvious fill in IF Revelation was written BEFORE 64 AD.
That however has its own problem because most would agree that Nero would be the SIXTH king, yet the 666 refers to the EIGHTH King. So EVEN IF we somehow have Revelation written before 64 AD, yet still Nero CANNOT fit.
There is also a false reasoning that John (who is in exile) could not specify Rome or Nero, yet that makes no sense, for was John worried about dying for Christ?
Was John writing his OWN words, or what was revealed to him?
The early ECFs (that is anti-Nicene (not post)) did NOT see it as being Nero.

Looking back now we also see that Nero did NOT fit, for similar reasons - if he was the 6th king then he is NOT the 8th. This is fairly simple to understand and I find it hard for anyone to not be able to notice this.

That's because people confuse Nero with being the beast complete but I see Nero as just one head of the beast

    Not at all.
666 is the number of the final 8th king who rules for 42 months.
Nero is not the 8th king, so Nero is not 666.
Note that the beast has 7 heads which are 7 kings (of which Nero could be number 6), but the beast himself who rules and has the number is the 8th.

Would you agree that the beast is not complete as a person but a demon influencing a empire and its leaders?

    I think that you do.

If so then the verses below shows that a person is now acting on the beast behalf.

    Rev 13:5 & 18
5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666.

So the number 666 now represents this person. (which did add up to Nero's name)

Now you are correct that the beast is the 8th king not the 6th king

    Rev 17:11
11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

But as we see above that the beast belongs to the seven kings but at the time of the writing of revelation he wasn't the 8th king yet. So the beast a demon king is the empire of the other seven kings but at the time is represented as the 6th king

    Rev17:10
10 They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while.

Now this beast the 8th king is the one who destroys Babylon the great who I believe to be Jerusalem in 70AD. It is interesting that Antiochus Epiphanies ended up being the 8th king in line who also concurred Jerusalem and desecrated the temple.

No. The beast is a person, just like Antiochus IV Epiphanes.
There is a demonic power behind the person is correct.

    I think that you do.

    Rev 13:5 & 18
5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months
This points to a person empowered by a demon.

18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[e] That number is 666.

It doesn't actually, but that is another argument.

Now you are correct that the beast is the 8th king not the 6th king
    Rev 17:11
11 The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.

Nope, your problem is that then EVERY one of the 8 kings would have to have a name which equals 666.
    This is clearly incorrect.
The ONLY king whose name equals 666 is that which rules for 42 months, who does all the things the beast does. This is clearly the 8th king and NOT the 6th.
A4E is NOT the 8th in line including Nero.
So what you are doing is counting the 6th in Roman terms and then switching to counting in the line of Seleucus.
However this line of 8 shows 5 are in the past, one is in the present, and 7th will come after this 6th one, and then the 8th. So it CANNOT refer to Antiochus.

No. The beast is a person, just like Antiochus IV Epiphanes.
There is a demonic power behind the person is correct.
How can a person be "once was now is not but will come?

How is a person cast into the lake of fire alive?

How is a person cast into the lake of fire before the judgment day?

How can a person come up from the abyss?

How can a person have 10 horns & seven heads?

The beast has to be a demon influencing different people like 7 kings

Nope, your problem is that then EVERY one of the 8 kings would have to have a name which equals 666.

You misunderstand me I was saying that AE was the 8th including Nero they have nothing to do with each other as they lived at different times all I was saying is that history repeats itself.

AE was 11th in line in which 3 were uprooted before him thus he became the 8th just like the little horn in Daniel 7

It is God's righteous judgment on those who are NOT in Christ.
We will NOT be there. We will ALREADY have been given eternal life, and ALREADY transformed BEFORE the GWToJ.
This is about those who died without knowing Jesus. They are judged therefore as Paul noted in Romans 2, and as is stated elsewhere.
You did just state this in another thread so how could the beast and the false prophet be cast into the lake of fire alive and before the GWTJ day if they are people and not demons?

It's generally interpreted as referring to Domitian, who was described as "Nero reborn."

No, he isn't likened to a lamb. It only says he has two horns like a lamb. Horns are usually dangerous and threatening but lamb's horn aren't so he will appear to be peaceful and non-threatening. Danile writes something similar about peace and flatteries.

Umm, if we did not know these words were from Rev 13 we would say this man is Christ! We know that this man is trying to imitate Christ.
I believe he will also but this isn't the best evidence for that.

So then if he is trying to imitate Christ we he not use his name? Identity theft at the highest level.

Does 666 relate to Christ? No way possible everything we have seen in the movies and read is that 666 is an evil number, is it really? What does scripture have to say?

The image of the beast in Rev 13 is also to be worshipped and those who do not are killed likewise. The most interesting is that the image Nebuchadnezzar sets up has height of 60 and width of 6 which just so happens to be the last two numbers of 666.

Did you know the measurements of the door to the temple are 60X6 cubits.
666 isn't just three 6's. They are one solid number. 60x6 (360) is not related to 666 in any relevant way.

How about the 600? What does that represent?

The narrow pathway to the holy of holies is 6X100 cubits in length.

    Where is that documented?

Christ is the door and the way to life!
    John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

    Matt 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The image of the beast is the temple

As I have pointed out the image which is built unto the beast is a temple. I cannot agree. 666 isn't a name anyways, it's the number of a name meaning the letters are counted as numbers and add up to 666 and it's his own name not the name of Jesus.

No, the 666 is related to the name of the false prophet beast not the first beast. Only the FP is a single man. The first beast is 7 mountains with ten kingdoms which is not a man for obvious reasons.

Nero is long dead before the beast rises with all 7 heads intact. Nero isn't a head. Heads are mountains not kings/leaders.
