Yes, and yet: many still have no idea what Christ's plans are for the devil comes as an angel of light to confuse and confound. It seems he is very good at his job.

Wirh all this in mind, why was it so hard for the apostles to believe He was resurrected? Why the huge shock? Was it a misunderstanding of scripture? Of what Jesus told them?

    Thanks.
The Jews believed the Messiah would defeat their human enemies and so,

they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying. Lk.9:45

The Apostles came to understand how their scriptures actually teach that Messiah defeats sin and death. Unfortunately, "Christianity" has reverted back to Judaisms erroneous view of the Messiah.

There is a huge gap between faith that grows within us and our natural mind. With a mix of believers and unbelievers in the population the tendency is for those with faith to adapt to the unbelieving mindset in the population. We need a constant input from God, and a constant focus upon the things of God to overcome the influence of the unbelieving world. Particularly when we're young believers we are driven by impulses of the carnal man, which tends to obscure faith. It's a process.

This blend of faith and unbelief in Israel caused the prophecies to be somewhat obscured, probably by a number of interpretations. I think the evidence is that Jesus' disciples did *not* fully know what would happen to him. Jesus constantly directed them to the Scriptures, and to his mission. And yet they seemed surprised by events that actually fulfilled those prophecies.

By their very nature miracles are not normally expected. The only way you can really expect them is by constant attention to God and to His word, so that we see what He is doing. It requires a word from God to expect the miraculous. Even if we've been told the Messiah is coming and will rise from the dead, the tendency may be to rationalize this away as a parable of something more natural, unless we have the literal reality confirmed in front of our eyes.
