Six men died – five congregants and a priest– in an attack today on a Roman Catholic church in Dablo, Burkina Faso. The attackers, 20 – 30, also burned down the church and several other building, as well as looting a health center. This follows attacks on an Assemblies of God church on April 28th, in which 6 died, an attack on another RC church on April 5th, in which 4 died and the killing of a Spanish Catholic priest in February. There has been a marked increased in ‘violent Islamic extremism’ (New York Times) since 2016.

Please pray for the bereaved, any injured and/or traumatized, and for the church congregations involved. Please pray for the officials dealing with these incidents, that justice would be done, as well as for the perpetrators.
